Ingham County Medical Society Alliance Calendar 2011-2012
September 30                   Bully Conference @ Kellogg Center
We were asked to support and attend this day-long conference right here in East Lansing that will focus upon
ridding our schools and society of bullying. Excellent speakers and authorities will provide the content. For
more information please contact Tammy Guastella at 336-9019.
October 5                   Save Day / Drive, Drop & Deliver
Haven House & Angel House
Last year we organized the opportunity for members to drive by the MSMS parking lot and drop donations into
the waiting shopping carts that would then be delivered to local shelters that aid families that are in crisis. We
know they always need over the counter children's medical items. They are happy to accept items like Q-tips, Tylenol,
measuring spoons, Kleenex, nebulizers, etc....any and all items that could be used by infants and children. We hope
all our members can drive by, drop off and then we will deliver to Haven House and Angel House.
October 25                   Fall Coffee & Halloween Happening
Gather & Stuff Halloween Bags for city ER
Come over to 6050 Standish Court, East Lansing for a casual coffee get together and prepare "treat bags" for the local
ERs to give out to any child that finds themselves in an ER on
Halloween. The bags should include things such as puzzles, games, pencils...not
an emphasis on candy. Bring your donation, and the bags will be provided along
with an easy brunch. Holiday Angel requests will be distributed.
October 26                   Bake Away the Blues
This event is organized by W3 of the Sparrow Foundation, and supported by several other organizations in our
community including ICMSA. This event will feature a pie baking demonstration by Linda Hundt of Sweetelcious
Pies in DeWitt, Michigan. Linda wants to share her story of depression and her talents as a baker. This will
be held at the Pasant Theatre of Wharton Center@7:00 p.m. Please watch your email for an invitation.
November 17                   Holiday Boutique @ Sparrow Professional Building
December 1                      Holiday Boutique @ University Club
We took this "show on the road" last year and we are coming back with a double dose of fun for this year. Twice as
nice, two times is the charm, double trouble....we offer two to enjoy!! Vendors will be varied at each, though some of
our tried and true will be participating in both. Each will have musical entertainment, refreshments available and a
fun atmosphere. A portion of our proceeds will be donated to Sparrow's SANE Room again this year, as all remaining
profits will support our scholarship fund. We will keep trying to edit this event so it is unique each year.
December 14                     Operation Santa Event.
Join us at MSMS for a casual lunch and wrap session. Bring your Angel House gifts and we will all help
to wrap and tag the items then load them up for Santa.
February                         Road Trip to Judy Frankel Antiques/ Troy
This would be just for fun...but it is a wonderful place to go "ooohhhh and aaahhhhh". Judy would love to host a
bus tour stop and give us a quick course in quality antiques. We will try to connect with some of our other
counties in the Detroit metropolitan area and make it a day of fun. Stay tuned for the date. Judy travels
to Europe the first of each year, so she wants to give us the first "look" at her finds in 2012.
February                        Indoor Tailgate Family Event at MSU.
April 15                        Tax Day Treasures #4 / Trivia Game
Clean out those closets and your trash becomes my treasure! We often find "finds" and the funds that are raised
go to our scholarship fund for medical and nursing scholarships. Not to be missed and this is an easy, fun
fundraiser that any county chapter could borrow and embellish into a special event.
May 2012                       President's "Hard Hat" Luncheon
Broad Art Museum
Last straw, victory lap, end zone run...this is totally the checkered flag for President, Lisa Hildorf.
We may be wearing hard hats for a tour of the new art museum followed by a picnic basket lunch on the patio.
We can put our hands in the wet cement and leave a mark on the future. We won't know a date until the first
of the year. Stay tuned.
